19th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki

The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participates in the 19th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki, to be held from May 4th to 7th, 2023, at the Helexpo Exhibition Center (Pavilion 13, stand 107).

The Institute also holds two parallel events:

On Friday May 5th, 11.00-12.00, Pavilion 15 (Room "N. G. Pentzikis" ), discussion between G. Papanastassiou, Professor of Historical Linguistics and director of the Institute, with the journalist Lambrini Kouzeli about: "Greek etymology, Ancient and Modern", on the occasion of the publication of P. Chantraine's Ετυμολογικό λεξικό της αρχαίας ελληνικής: ιστορία των λέξεων.

On Saturday May 6th, 10.00-11.00, Pavilion 15 (Balcony II), presentation: "Wider Hellenism and Literature: from the Late Middle Ages to the Greek Revolution of 1821". Speakers:

• G. Polemis, Professor of Byzantine Literature, University of Athens,
• S. Stavrakopoulou, Associate Professor of Modern Greek Literature , University of Thessaloniki,
• G. Konstantinou, artist and writer, and
• (coordinator) G. Kechagioglou, Professor Emeritus of Modern Greek Literature, A.U.Th., and member of the Board of Directors of the Institute.

  Engravings by G. Konstantinou will be exhibited on the event premises.
