Μνήμη Χριστόφορου Χρηστίδη [In memoriam Christoforos Christidis]
M. Kokoli (ed.)
Christoforos Christidis believed in Demoticism and actively supported it through the translation of difficult philosophical and legal texts and through the promotion of Demotic in the field of Law. The Institute of Modern Greek Studies, however, had further reason to honor Chr. Christidis. He was M. Triandaphyllidis’ consultant in the drawing up of his will. He worked with great zeal for 22 years (until his death) as the Institute’s trustee.
This volume consists of the speeches given by K. Tsantsanoglou, I. Deligiannis, V. Foris and Pl. Servas at the symposium organized by the Institute to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Chr. Christidis’ death, the speeches delivered at the honorary event held at Herakleion in 1991, an extensive article by Emm. Kriaras, and several short articles by K. Th. Dimaras, Al. Argiriou, F. Vegleris and K. Giannopoulos. In addition, in the book’s Epilogue, the translations of three excerpts from Thucydides are included, together with Christidis’ biographical note and a chart of his works.
